Default Big Thumbs up to little Shavers!

Called in my order at nearly 5PM on Thursday and as promised it's here on Saturday. Cannot ask for it faster than that.

Everything sharper than sharp, and ready to go.

I bought a Denny's V-Gouge which I like but it lacks the feel I am after, also got a Diobsud Forge Spoon gauge that is very nice, no complaints and razor sharp. Should be perfect for getting into deep bowls, and hollows. Finally I got a Helvie detail knife. I love this thing, feels perfect in the hand and is super sharp, will be buying a couple more.

Still waiting for the other tools I ordered to come in but the Helvie and the Diobsud Forge are good stuff, and I think I'll find the Denny's Gouge useful, it just doesn't fit my hand right...

Anyway, Here's another Thumbs Up For Little Shaver's. Good stuff.

Great service, but that's no surprise! Glad you have some nice new sharp tools now, let the carving begin!!!!! Cheers

Revlis,
I also didn't like one of my Denny's detail knife handle. It just didn't feel good. I took it to the 1" belt sander, added a light finish and now I like it.
By the way, Denny's is not the first nor last I'll change.

Amen to the Thumbs up for excellent service and products.
Nice people to do business with. Woodcraft store in Tulsa needs to take lessons from the Ferry's on service and knowledge of their products, for sure. Did I say that?????? Yep.

I agree Bob, I took one of my Helvies and took the thickness down on one of their blades. It was hard to keep it sharp or maybe it was the way I was strping. No matter, It is better now. Done the same thing with several other knives but I love my Rick ferry knife the way it is.

I've ALWAYS been happy with Little Shavers - the service, speed, and razor-sharp blades. And I would have never known about them if it weren't for this site - so thanks everybody!

I also just had my first dealing with Little Shavers, excellent service and tool was real sharp. Kenny I totaly agree with you in regards to Woodcraft, the employees are always pleasant but lack knowledge in regards to carving tools, well I guess other things too. One time I called WC to place an order for a knife, I asked does it come sharp, after 10 minutes of the cust. service person trying to find the answer, she came back and said it does for an extra charge of $5.00.

My parents had the same problem when they were getting me a kit from woodcraft for Christmas. The only man that knew about woodcarving tools was an elderly man that had to be in his 80s to 90s. He was helping another custimer at the time, then he fell as he was bending down to take some tools out of a locked case. They sent him home because he hit the ground pritty hard from what I heard. He wasn't able to help them chose the tools, so the got a detail carving kit. It is great for me now, but I have already started a list of tools to add. I guess I should check out little shavers when I am read to buy some tools.

Kenny, Hello, in this case with the Denny's I altered the handle so it fit my hand better. I wanted to be able to rotate the knife within my hand so I sanded the handle corners down and narrowed it at the knife junkture. It worked. Could not do without the little detail knife. In fact I have two just in case. I keep bending the tip.

Submitted another order to Little Shaver's last night. A Mora carving knife, something I know will show up sharp and handle rough stuff, a small set of flexcuts, a book so maybe I'll learn something, a set of Fine Rifflers, and finally a Stubai Viener, it's supposed to be one of those tools not to miss I guess.

Mostly I am trying to get a sample from just about all the recommended brands I hear about so I can get an idea of what I like and what feels best, then go from there. It's kind of a pricey way to go, but I'm just busy enough to be able to justify doing it this way and having the tools come to me.

Xsailer thanks for the tip on Denny's, I'll be tweaking it soon.
