Can a few of you comment on the best place to purchase Pfeil or Stubai carving tools - I have been doing large scale power carvings (ranch/home entrance ways, tree carvings, etc.) and now want to move into the more traditional aspects incorporating hand tools and a mallet. I have a few odds and ends hand tools and have borrowed a few to get the feel and I like both pfeil and stubai but it appears that there is a larger selection of individual tools with the pfeil. I want to purchase quality tools but also want the best price i can get. Any comments will be greatly appreciated and THANKS !!! WOECO |

Both are very good tools Rick at Little Shavers carries Stubai http://www.littleshavers.com/index.html Chipping away also carries some Stubai not sure about their prices they are in Canada so the shipping will be higher http://www.woodcarvingstore.com/ (chipping away) I know Woodcraft carries Pfeil tools but they are very high I would suggest doing a google search for Pfeil carving tools I would suggest contacting Rick at little Shavers He can point you in the right direction Rick has excellent prices and excellent service

I bought my Pfeil tools from KMS. They're very good, reliable, have the lowest prices (probably in North America), and their freight is cheap. You can buy a set or several tools and have them shipped for $10. Mike

T.o.w. in Richmond Hill Ontario, have the best prices for Phiel chisels in north America. Low prices and a 25% sale price added to that. I did a comparision price check with KMS. TOW, still were better priced even before the sale discount. Cheers, Brian. Last edited by "Brian; 04-03-2005 at 03:26 PM. |

Bob I thought the same thing but I only came up with this info listed on Flexcut's list of authorized dealers when I Google'd. T.O.W. Carvers' Supplies 41 Idleswift Dr. Thornhill ONT, Canada L4J 1L2 905-731-3841 Not sure if it is the same one. Maybe Brian or somebody else knows more. Bob

I too am fed up with the prices WoodCraft charges for Pfeil (and everything else for that matter). My local store told me "the cost of steel" is the reason their prices have gone up 30% the last year... give me a break. Unfortunately they also have a monopoly on Pfeil in the States... so look across the border! Look at Woodcraft and buy in Canada... I have bought several tools from Feather Animation in Ontario - very nice selection and service! Don't know how they compare to the other ones mentioned here but Feather was 25-30% less than Woodcraft... check em out... http://www.woodcarvingsupply.com/index.htm |
