Question Battery power Dremel

Anyone use the battery power dremel tool? If so How long does it hold the charge? How is the power for carving/girnding? Would you reccomend it for carving?
Thanks Ed.

I can only offer an opinion of a regular dremel, mine, I find is too thick and awkward to handle, unless I hook up my flex shaft, I can only imagine how heavy and thick a battery powered one would be. Mine is a fixed speed at 35000 RPM and has the tendency to grab and go astray at such a high speed. I had a variable speed one which got detroyed at some point and I miss the speed control option.
My 2 cents.

I have a battery powered Dremel....and it is good for small touchups and actually the battery lasts pretty good. It is not for heavy duty grinding. And.......do a lot of shopping for the batteries! most places want 24.00 for a battery!! I found a place in Havasu Az that I get them for 8.00....not a bad savings heh?

I have the little Dremel with a 7.2 volt battery pack and I also wouldn't reccomend it for any heavy duty grinding. When given a choice, and I do have choice, I usually choose the plug-in model for most of my chores.

I do like the battery model for things like sharpening my chainsaw when I'm out in the woods. In situations like this it is very handy!

I tried one once and used it for about 20 minutes before I returned it. I didn't think much of it for anything. That's just my opinion and of course some people will like it. My .02 cts.

I had one for a few days, then gave it to my daughter. I need more power. Daughter uses it to trim her dogs nails. She says it works fine for that. TOM H

Don't have a battery powered Dremel but do have a Wizard from Black and Decker. Not made for heavy uses. The Battery dremel may be better for touch up and last longer than the Wizard. Battery last about 2 1/2 hours before recharge. Not a great tool but use in cleanup abd some detailing.

I've had a battery Mini-Mite Dremmel for years--sad to say, it was cheaper to buy a whole new one than to buy a new battery.

I mostly use mine for touchups, and to use Scotchbrite pads to de-fuzz a carving, or to use 3M disc. wheels. I also use it with little ceramic stones to do some light detailing--but everyone's right on--not much power behind it. Batteries last remarkably long for what they are.

Thanks everyone for the info. I am thinking of getting the 10.8 volt dremel. It is not as thick as the regular tools. I have a eletric power one with a flexiable shaft. but I need something portable. Thanks for all who answered my Thread.
