Awhile back I picked up a 12'' craftsman bandsaw for free. Some of your might remember I posted about it on here.I tuned it as per the instructions and it apears that the lower wheel is out of round. When I try to true the top wheel with the lower wheel after adjusting the screw on the top wheel to be in contact with all four points on the wheels and then turn it and check again the bottom wheel is off(using a straight edge against both wheels).I took the lower wheel off and laid it on the ground flat and it wobbled.about an 1/16-to 1/8 inch ( if that makes sence) When I run the saw in about a minute the rubber wheel starts to come off and then the blade. My boss that gave it to me told me it did that from day one.I thought he didn't have it tuned or adjusted properly but I am wondering if it could have had a bad lowwer wheel from the factory?Oh it seems to vibrate excessivly(probly because of the lower wheel not spinning true) Any sugestions or ideas?

Sounds like he was right, time to get a new lower wheel. I don't know of any way to straighten it, so it would be safer to just buy the new part and be done with it. A lot cheaper than a new machine. Bob

Check with your local Sears store and ask about the nearest Sears Service Center, or find one on line. Just give them the model number of your saw and they can find a replacement drive wheel for you, and ship it right to your home. Or if there is a service center near you, they will repair the saw for you. I was surprised at how accomodating these service centers are, but they are not well known! Al. |

Like Al said......Sears Parts has an amazing amount of parts for most anything, doesn't even have to be a craftsman!

Here's the number you want to call at Sears: 1-800-366-7278. Let me know if you don't have the part number as I have it.
