Most of the name brand bandsaw are being made at one company. I know if you look at the Craftman, Grizzly, rikon, the only difference is the paint. May be other also. Anywya, The Grizzly ultimate 14" is a jewel to run. Well I guess, I haven't ran mine in so long since the son in law took it.That in itself is another subject.

Like any mechanical tool, be safe.

Talking Re: Band Saw decisions

The real most dangerous tool in the shop is human error, the tools themselves are normaly not dangerous at all unless they are improperly cared for and such.
What ya talking about HiHo, I like to paint my tools dark grey or forrest green. I know better then to put my hands in harms way so I don't need a glove .

I don't see enough of a difference to make up for that much money. The less expensive saw will last longer than you do, and will resaw 12 inch oak with the riser block.

You know, some people drive Malibu's and some drive Corvettes! They both get the job done.

One thing I noticed is a bigger motor in the two models listed.

I have resawn 12 Oak, Walnut, etc. Thus, I cannot see any need for anything more than the 3/4 horse. Just is not necessary. I would rather spend the difference towards the fancy Carter tensioner.

I have decided that it would be best if I went with the delta 28-276. What size of blade would yall suggest, a 1/8 or a 3/16?

I think 1/8 is too small for everyday duty. 3/16 would be good. I usually have a 1/4 inch on mine. If you get one of those little diamond hones and round the back corners of the blade you may be surprised at juct how tight a radius it will cut. No matter what size you go with, break those back corners on the blade. It works wonders.
