Default Band Saw decisions

I'm taking this post from another thread I started a few months ago as it's now in the wrong forum for the topic. I'm also not sure if this belongs in general or tools, and I hope the moderators will move it if it doesn't belong here.

Anyway, I have decided to bite the bullet and get a saw, but I have two choices and need some help deciding.

Option A: A pre-owned 14" Jet that's listed for $450. No model number is given, but the ad states:

Includes fence, extra blade and mobile base.
Technical Details:
14-inch band saw with enclosed stand; 6-inch by 13-1/2-inch cutting capacity
1-horsepower engine moves blade at 3,000 strokes per minute; tilting table
Cast-iron table; graphite-impregnated polymer blade
Includes stand, saw, blade, dust chute
68 by 26 by 19 inches; 15-inch by 15-inch table; 185 pounds

My questions are:

a) Is this a decent price?
b) What problems should I look for in a used saw?

Option B: New Grizzly G0555 delivered for $21.50 more.

I have a G0555 it really is a good saw....... but I have the 6" extension... I have not cut anything where I had cut anything a foot thick ....but I have had to cut something 8" thick thats when it payed for its self. if you go with the G0555 I believe that you won't be disappointed . just make sure that you set it up right ...line up the wheels....set your guides right....you will have a great saw, that will last you a lot of years ...

They are basically the same bandsaw. Both are imports from Taiwan from the same factory with some tweeks for each manufacturer. Both do well in reviews. I would opt for the new one one myself... just nice to have new one you can. Hard to say if the jet is too high, depends on how old and how much use and care it has had.

Never buy someone else's problems if you can help it. For $21.50 more you get a new saw and a warrantry. Never heard of a graphic impregnated polymer blade.

Hi
Knarl here...find yourself a dealer you trust...chit chat...have the converstions we all have about tools etc..blow away those who have no time for us and stay with the ones that do.
It doesn't, take long to establish a relationship with the good ones. Been there done that...I trust my friends, and can return and deal the next day....I trust you all until you prove other wise.

James, I have had that very saw for about 13 years. It is a great saw, very accurate and a real workhorse. I put the extension riser on it and can resaw wide lumber. I also have a 1/8 blade and it is like a scroll saw.
I keep it set up pretty good. The only things I have changed on it are Cool Blocks, they work a lot better than the stock blocks, and I changed the drive belt to a linked belt. That was a night and day change. It made the saw much smoother. Don't think you have to run out and do these changes. That saw works just fine right out of the box. If I ever bought another band saw, I have no reason not to buy the same saw all over again. But I think this saw will still be running fine when I am gone.

So, what would be the advantage of the Delta over the Grizzly? Besides spending an additional $65 + tax?
