| | Band Saw Blades I'm looking for new band saw blades, and I think I want them skip tooth. I have heard of the skip tooth blades, but have never used them. Got the web site URL for R&D Bandsaws from this site, some time ago. Getting to the point , if some of you have used the skip tooth blades, can you advise me what might be right for cutting out decoys and birds, they have a very large variety. I know the blade size I want, 1/4" and 3/8", but they have 020, 025, 035, thickness blades and a variety of blades with 4 , 6 , 8, skip tooth to the inch. Confusing or what. So I thought of asking here for good advice. Thanks |

| | Re: Band Saw Blades Hugh are you talking about scrollsaw blades? have skip tooth in those but never heard of them in a bandsaw, doesn't mean they don't have them ha ha, I just never heard of them.....go to www.suffolkmachinery.com they have the best blades I have used, they are bandsaw specialist and have a tutorial on bandsaws and they will also help you with blades...all you need is the blade length for your saw when you call them........Dave (forgot to mention...good prices too! I just bought 3 more, 15.00 each, and if you are talking about scrollsaw blades, Mike and his "Flying Dutchmen " blades are outstanding!)) |

| | Re: Band Saw Blades almost hate to ship you to another mags site, and these guys just did away with their woodcarving forum, BUT, theyhave some of the best advise around on general woodworking....I'm sure someone there can give you the straight skinny on bandsaw blades, as there are a lot of professional woodworkers there. http://dgroups.woodmagazine.com/n/pf...ag=genwoodwork
Oh, one more thing, Lee Valley markets the Timberwolf blades under the new Viking brand.

| | Re: Band Saw Blades Hugh,
These are my favorite blades. http://www.olsonsaw.com/ap.html
A 1/4" blade will cut a 7/8" radius, a 3/8" blades min. radius is 1-1/2".
I believe you need a minimum of 3 teeth in the wood at all times for best results. |

| | Re: Band Saw Blades 1/4"- 6 tooth, skip blade by Olsen. You can't go wrong.
After mounting blade, turn motor on and touch up back edge of blade with a file. There you are - all my secrets of a bandsaw blade. Big Al

| | Re: Band Saw Blades I bought one of the hundred dollar Delta bandsaws and I haven't been able to get it to cut on the line. The blade wanders all over and has ruined most of my work. I did all the tune-ups listed in the manual but no luck. I tried the stone on the back of the blade and even made my own guide blocks. Still no luck. Where can I get more info on how to adjust it so it will work good? I have tried Delta replacement blades and also a Craftsman blade and different widths. No luck there either.

| | Re: Band Saw Blades I have felt your pain, I was curious to know if it was one of those three wheeled band saws? ![004[1]](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/004[1].gif) , I was such a pain to use, I ran out of cuss words when I ran it. I could never get the blade to stay straight on it or add one heck of time trueing it up the blade, mine was a craftsman though. I sold mine, I even told the guy what a pain it was, but $25.00 was too good a deal for him. Good luck Quote: |

| | Re: Band Saw Blades found the same with the ryobi cheapie....couldn't take it back to the store fast enough.....a bandsaw isn't a tool to buy cheap in my opinion......still think that grizzly G0555 is probably the best buy. As for wandering and noise, my rigid got quieter, the cuts smoother and straighter when I switched to the wolf blades from suffolk machinery. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
