Default Anyone used this Dremel model?

Dremel 1100-N/25 7.2 Stylus Rotary Tool. I was at HD today and came across this Dremel tool. It is cordless and seemed comfortable to hold. Its shaped like a small drill with a pistol grip but has grooves along the sides so you almost hold it like a pen. It speed is only 5,000 to 25,000 which is limiting but at $70 I thought it might be a good addition to my armamentarium. (big word isn't it) Ha, Any way thought it might be good for small carvings, caricatures, etc for drilling, sanding etc. HAS ANYONE USED THIS TOOL? Thanks, Lar

It seems like everyone in our carving group using a dremel is using this model. I haven't used one myself but those who have them rave about the comfort and the battery life. If I was in the market for a new battery rotary tool, I would definitely check this one out.

i have one, i find it really comfortable and with plenty of power for detailed wood carving. the only draw back is the battery, as it gets old it spends more time charging and less time carving.

cheers

Don't bother, it looks good but has charge issues. Mines in the draw and i now have a mains type.

I have one and really like it. Not for major wood removal, but good for small things. Mine holds a charge nicely.

I have one.

I use mine for quick touch ups, too, but nothing that requires any torque or long term grinding/sanding/whatever.
No issues, and I have had one on my bench for couple of years.
I have a regular "plug-in" Dremel for higher torque and long run-time jobs.

I've had one for years that my son gave me as a gift and love it. I have made one change to it, though. I found a chuck on ebay that fits it that makes changing bits easy to do by hand where you don't need the little wrench. Wouldn't have one without it now.

Hi Medicine Dog! I too have watched woodcarvers in my woodcarving group that use the Dremel model you showed above...all of them have had problems with the battery or other issues soooo I bought the newer Dremel 10.8 Volt Litheium Battery Portable unit and then placed the 'pistel grip accessory' from one of my corded Dremel tools on it to make it look and function like the one you asked about... It works perfectly! Light, portable and powerful enough to handle the most demanding woodcarving/sanding tasks and the litheium battery seems to last forever! I'd go with them model instead of the one you were looking at... Regrettably, Dremel hasn't seemed to improve that particular model although it looks like a real keeper for light and detail type work... Hope this helps and save carving to you!
