First off answers about the rough-out machine. Â*I looked at a lot of duplicating machines that cost from between $800.00 and $20,000.00. Â*I had a couple of criterias that had to be met, space, ability to roughout decoys, and santas and model boat hulls. Â*I could not find what I wanted so I started drawing plans to my own design. Â*A friend of mine owns a machine shop and said he would help me build it. Â*It cost me about $2,000 to build. Â*The four cutter motors are RotoZips.
The indexer is foot controlled 1/2hp dc drive.

I do sell my santas from a storefront that I rent from family. Â*I also sell at craft shows. Â*I probably sell more santas from word of mouth orders and repeat orders. Â*I started carving this years orders in July and am having a hard time keeping up. Â*I still have about 35 orders to fill before Christmas. Â*Looks I will be carving on Christmas eve again this year. Â*
DO I EVER GET TIRED OF CARVING SANTAS? Â*GOSH NO. Â*I carve about 10 santas a week, Â*my wife paints them, then I antique them and out they go.

Thanks for the Interest
Goody
Putting new hard drive in my computer tonight :P Â*may be offline for a couple of days
