Default American Samoa Woocarving

Just moved over to the island with my wife. Brought a small assort of my carving tools.

Found one small shop with carvings of way back. I asked if there are many carvers in the area and he told me they are all too lazy to carve? Hmm

Any advice on what kind of wood and where you can find over here?

No nothing about the carving scene over here

83-88 degrees each day Very humid and rain each day in this tropical paradise

Although weight, size and time might become factors in your search for wood; since you are in a U.S. territory..........there is the Office. They may have some local restrictions. Alaska had to put restrictions on some building materials going to the bush. Someone was building a cabin by mailing the supplies.....it was cheaper than trucking them in.

We had the same mail service as everywhere else in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. I bought a couple of buggy wheels when our house was under construction, used them to build a ceiling fan, and the supplier sent them by mail. The rural mail delivery guy said that was a first for him.
