| I will be purchasing a new 14 band saw - either the Delta Model 28-276 3/4hp with a 2 year warranty, or the Grizzly Model G 0555 1 hp. with a 1 year warranty. Both saw have an optional 6 riser block kit. There isnt that much difference in price, but the Grizzly comes with a fence, and miter gauge plus the larger hp. Im familiar with the Delta, but not the Grizzly. Any advice? Bill |

I like the Grizzly Ultimate 14 " which I have owned for several years. I purchased the Timber wolf blades and have not looked back. Also have the 6 " riser but have not used it yet! There isn't anything wrong with the Delta either . I have a 10 " one that I used for years and gave it to my son.

I own the that Grizzly for a year now, and it has been a very good saw. Do not regret purchasing it.

You might be surprised how much the fence and square costs...check that out first....I have heard nothing but good about the Grizzly....Delta too for that matter. But saying that. I have a Ridgid which is a good saw....but would have bought a Grizzly if I had known at the time that it included the automatic tensioner and square and fence.....don't know if they do now?

I purchased the Delta 14 inch and Riser almost 20 years ago. It is very good quality. The discussion went on here a few months ago and the consensus was that the new Deltas are of very poor quality as they are now made in China. I know the Grizzly is almost the same saw, and parts and good service are available. If you choose Delta, look at it closely. Nobody in my city even stocks Delta. I did order a Delta 12 inch disc sander a few months ago and it seems OK. Just look and touch before you buy. If you do buy a Delta, I would not buy their fence. The Kreg fence is much higher quality and not much more in price. BobT Last edited by BobT; 11-01-2009 at 09:03 AM. |

Bill, I Have a Grizzly G0555 with a 6 inch extension..riser...the fence is heavy duty.....am very very satisfied with it.....a little advise....if you buy the extension riser....the directions say use two people to install it....the riser.......be sure you use two people....I did not and almost lost it ....there is a point where it gets top heavy...and you don't have enough hands to keep it from.... falling..... and ....hold the riser.... and.... bolts..... and wrenches. Thanks to everyone for your advice. I was leaning towards the Grizzly, but needed some extra input to make up my mind. Jim thanks for the advice about the riser block, I would have tried to do this by myself. I'm just getting too old to do this heavy stuff by myself. Bill |

Before you run out and buy a new saw, think about getting a used one. There are some great deals to be had on almost new tools. The money you save will buy a lor of gouges! Do a bit of research before you buy though. Never buy a broken tool. Good luck, Dan |
