Yes, these are interesting examples of the carving skills in Southeast Asia. It would be nice to know about their tools, techniques, etc.

I'm sure many of those carvings were carved using tools we would consider crude. In my searching on the web, I've seen how some in SE Asia carve, they sit flat on the ground and "clamp" their work with their bare feet. The "chisels, gouges" and such are hand made out of scrap steel because they can't get the tools we buy. Until recently, amazing as it seems, woodcarvers in Asia were looked down upon as uneducated and low skilled. Thanks for the link, Doc.
