Default Winter Wind Spirit

This is a simple pine planter stand with a Koa Wind Spirit. This project, almost, went to the trash....several times because the wood was junk, junk....soft, light, easy to break,... sort of like red wood. But I continued on it until, I knew it was no use...in trying to sand it super smooth. Finished in BLO and matte lacquer. Turned out ok....in fact in a good hardwood it would be a real nice thing to try again. The weird thing is her eyes....they seem to follow you around, sort of gives you that spooky chicken skin.

Di, I am no expert but I do not see a thing wrong with her. Very well done. And it looks really cool on the planter.

Hi Di,
I can see what you mean about her eyes, like this one a lot! Even though you had problems with it, the outcome is fantastic.

The spirit face came out great - I especially love the wavy brow. The leaves also came out wonderful.

Di,

Nothing like a cool breeze, eh? Gotta love that koa even when it gets pithy. Very nice carving.
