Default Wildlife Relief Carving - Turkey

I attended my first carving conference in Forest City, IA this weekend and it was hosted by Waldorf College and the North Iowa Woodcarver's Guild. I had a good time and the people were very nice. I think woodcarvers tend to be the nicest people around .

I carved Friday evening from 7PM to 9PM. Saturday from 8AM to 9PM and Sunday from 8AM to Noon. Although it was fun, I must admit that I was ready to be done on Sunday. That's a lot of sitting.

The photo is a picture of my relief carving. It was my first relief carving and I like the turn out. I still need to paint/color it but I won't be able to do that for a couple of days. I chose to do the relief carving because I'd like to eventually carve my own gunstock and thought I'd get some experience first.

Hi, bassbully! You should like how it turned out, it turned out great. Looks and sounds like it was a lot of fun. Please keep us updated, would like to see it when you are finished.

The key is definitely practice. And this was a good start to it. Also look forward to seeing your gun stocks in the future.

Blessings,
Tina
