David you'd get a better response if you indicated what type of carving you were going to try.

Try putting a different heading, Chip Carving knife, caricature carving knife, etc.
Good luck.

I have a few Pfiel chip carving knives, but I don't like the handles.

I must prefer knives with bigger and rounder handles because they are more comfortable to use.

But in the not so round but comfortable knives, these are good

The three Chipping Away knives posted by Gilles have ergonomically designed handles and are great especially if you are a beginner. I don't have them but have used them to teach a newbie. The shape of the handle almost forces you to hold the knife correctly. IMHO

cool! sounds like a good plan. i've read on the orum that the way you hold the knife for a great deal determines the outcome.
do you have their reerence numbers?
thanks,
david

Sorry David my mistake. You did post in the chip carving section, however I opened it under new posts.
Whateveryou've had a good response from a few good chip carvers.
I use a Wayne Baron knife and a small Lamp knife. Sharpening is the trick.
