Default Whatcha' workin on?

This is a piece I completed over the weekend.
It is another box...I do a lot of these, but this one is sticking with my tree series that I've been working through since the beginning of the summer. It is 16" wide and 16" high, white pine, and finished with orange shellac.
There was a ding in the wood on the top that couldn't be sanded out, so I carved a little acorn detail to illiminate the ding. Now, I think I need to do stuff like that on all of the boxes.

OH THOR!!!! This is the first chance I have had to visit the Message Board today and what should greet me but your glorious box ... oh, good lady, that is to die for!

The shadow work in that Tree of Live is just outstanding. Shadow is everything in relief carving and you've got it. Your solution for your ding is great. Very creative. And your wood working on the box just frames it off nicely.

OK ... Now the $64,000 question ... do you sell those and how do I get my name on your waiting list ... hmmm! .... have to book mark this thread for Mike's attention with Christmas coming.

Thank you, that carving gave me a big smile.

Susan

I have a couple of smaller pieces on the table. The first is a barn scene that is currently in the Ugly Stage of the rough out work. Ugly enough that I have set it aside of a couple of days to work on a second little face relief. Both are in basswood.

Susan,
Thanks for the compliment on my box. I really appreciate it. I even made my husband sit down and read what you wrote, because I was so delighted with the encouraging words. My work for sale is always on my web pages. I also barter and trade on a regular basis.
I love your new pieces. Your "works in progress" are clean! That must help with the finishing up. My works in progress look like I chewed them out with my teeth! I do not take pictures of them. Very interesting pieces. I do look forward to seeing the progressive photo series. Are they for the quilt? They look about the right size and shape. I really feel good about the quilt project, and hope to see some more folks finishing up their carvings for the digital collection.

ASH! We've been wondering where you went! You disappeared at the same time Wade went off on his farm search. Good to hear from you and thanks for the nice words.

Hey Ash!!! We've missed you!!! Sad In fact your name was mentioned on the "where's Wade?" thread in off topics. I understand being too busy to carve and so does my good Michael. In fact he acuses (sp) me of getting emotionally constipated when I don't have something on the table! Glad you could at least stop by....

Thor, it is goreous and I am leaving here after posting this and headed to your website! I do take time during the intermediate stages to do little clean ups and then set the piece across the room so I can decide where I am going next. After a stop by your site I will try to grab a quick photo of where my little dude is now.

Susan

(Geez ... I have to learn to spell or this place has got to install a spell checker!)

(( OH DOUBLE GEEZ! Lady your prices are too low for the quality of work you are showing!!!!!!))

Susan,
That face is starting to pop out of the wood. Love to watch the process, and still amazed at how neat you are.

Ron,
Glad to hear you're working on your quilt square. I look forward to seeing it.
Don't feel alone with your daughter's camera incident. My daughter fell down a waterfall with hers in her backpack and it apparently broke her fall when she sat on it. I had to ship her another camera. She was fine.
