Default "Waterfall" completed

The "Waterfall" project is completed (as thumbnailed below). This was the subject of a long thread under Works in Process. It is a basswood relief, 16" x 20" based on a design by M.C. Escher. Thanks to all of you who have commented or viewed this subject.

Phil, all I can say is it looks amazing. The shading really helps the whole thing come together. Great job, Bird carver

Alice, the finish is clear satin urethane. I used two colors of water-based stain on parts of the structure. The relief is about half the thickness of the 3/4" basswood. Others have asked how long it takes me to carve something like this. I estimate about 20 hours, but it was spread over about a year. My next project is mentioned in the Works in Process forum.

I've not had trouble with putting the urethane over the water-based stain, probably because the stain was very dry before application. But, do you really mean what you quoted: (These are the same.)

I once was told , "oil under water ,never water over oil" do you believe this?
