Walnut Flower

Hi all,
Had this piece of black walnut under my workbench for a long time. Picked it up the other day and saw this flower so I worked my tail off carving into that piece of core wood. Circular tight grain and hard as you can imagine. Nothing fancy, just what the wood let me cut out of it, hope you like it and as always, all comments appreciated. Its 12" wide, 8" high and from 2 to 3" thick. Giving it to my sis in law tomorrow, she always has flowers in her kitchen, hope she likes it.

Thanks Bill, I only applied natural danish oil to it, just naturally very dark.

Hi Ed & Merry Christmas to you and yours. It was a lot more work than expected, the core of that black walnut is very hard plus it has been in my woodshed for many years. Thanks for the nice comments.

Dan this one great looking piece, I really like it. When you look at it flows out and it is pulling you in at the same time. Well I have said I'm crazy.
