I carve outdoors, in the shop, in the family room, wherever the wife will allow. I am looking for a tool caddy, box or something that I can carry my knives, drawing tools, strop, white gold and on and on. I did see one at chipping away but it won't suit my needs. Any ideas or pics? would greatly appreciate |

I used to use an old case from a toiletry kit for my CC gear. Probably have one in the closet somewhere, if not you can find them at garage sales. Now I combine CC and other carving tools in a small canvas (13 x 6) with pockets around the outside. Cost about $12 at sears , lowes, catalogs etc. It fits about 30 knives and gouges in roll-up toll holders., strops, stones, bandaids etc. Bill K. |

I bought a $10 Rubbermaid toolbox and all of my supplies go into one small toolbox. I bought mine at a HWI but you can buy them elsewhere.

I bought a small scrapbooking carry bag from Michael's. It works great to carry my tools, blades up. To protect the blades and my fingers I cover the blades with the green finger protector tape.

I use an old toolbox of mine. It has organizer trays on the top of the lid where I put my knives, Dremel bits, and some scrap sandpaper. In the inner tray, I keep my strop, cordless dremel, honing oil, measuring tape, pencil, and other miscellaneous items. In the bottom of the toolbox I have my sharpening stones, wood blanks, wood burner, more Dremel attachements and bits, wood treatment, stain, finishing triangles, and a pillow case I drap over my lap to catch chips. Makes for easy cleanup when you're carving in the house on the couch and want to keep the wife happy. Not the most practical thing to say, take camping with you or something, but it keeps all my stuff in one place so when my wife wants to clean, she picks up the toolbox and puts it away and I know all my stuff is together and I don't have to hunt it all down later. I think it should stay next to the couch so I can sit down and pick up my carving whenever I want. She thinks when I'm done the whole kit and kaboodle needs to go back to the laundry room with the rest of my tools. Meh, opposites attract!
