Default Think'n Spring WIP

Here is my latest project that I've been working on.

The carving is of a male Baltimore Oriole sitting on a Dogwood branch. It is carved out of basswood.

Today, I made a wormy butternut frame for the carving and thought I'd show it before it gets ruined during the painting process.

This will be my first time painting something with watercolors!

Wonderful undercuts! I think it looks done now, but the painting will probably make it even more real looking.
Thanks for showing it.

Brian, wonderful relief it all works together so well. I too like the undercuts--adds so much depth. I also like you frame fits the subject perfectly. Will look forward to the color work.

Nice work Brian, great undercuts and depth to accent shadows. Delicate work.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

I haven't had much time to work on the piece this weekend but I did get the background colored.

Hopefully I'll get the rest done sometime this week.
