 things I learned while carving a springerle mold Well what started out as a project for work is done. I've learned some things along the way. 1. I really need another chip carving lesson. 2. after doing the same letter 16 times you get better 3. always buy good knives(I did) 4. I'll never be the next Wayne Barton 5. People are impressed that you can even carve 6. I hate carving letters 7. Cooking dough hides all you mistakes.  |

| Re: things I learned while carving a springerle mold It's hanging above my desk right now. I'll have to bring the camera in to work. I'm a little hesitant to post the pics since it's not my best work. It got the job done and If I did it again I'd make a bunch of changes. It's really nothing more than the buildings initials done in a gothic style. Actually the letters appear over the entrance door so I copied the style and carved them for the mold. Actually springerle presses could be a great idea for a magazine article. Hint hint. |
