OK here we go again another relief what can I say I love them.
The design for this one is from one of my paintings and the sunflower I grew myself. The painting medium is gouache opaque watercolor one of my favorite mediums.
It took me 2 afternoons to hog-out the background to a depth of 1/2 inch. The foreground has a slight taper and I may leave it that way or not.
I'm including an image of the painting along with the WIP.
As always I appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Absolutely beautiful use of complimentary colors in the gouache! The pure ultramarine blue background areas just force the pure yellow petals right off the image. And I love the limited palette work of pure yellow, pure blue, pure green and a light touch of rust to hold everything together. The inside area of the sunflower is so dimensional I feel like I could 'put' something like a hummingbird's egg inside of it and it would rest there.
The rough out looks great, love how you have the petals going under - in to the frame. It gives the feeling that the sunflower is tooooo big for the wood, which they are.
Hi Susan & Dylan, thank you both for your nice compliments.
Susan I really enjoyed painting the sunflower and I love to push color and shape as it relates to it's surroundings. These sunflowers were hugh and lined the full lengeth of the top of our bank at our California home.

Hi Colin, thank you and thank you for alerting me about the WIP not being able to enlarge the image. I don't know what I did either????? I'll change the file name and see if I can upload the image again.
