Question Sugar Pine-Mi source

Does anyone know of a supplier of sugar pine in the Flint, MI area? I want to try some chip carving on it.
Thanks, John

There's a woodcarving company, that also sells it. Here's a link to their website, it even goes by that name. http://www.sugarpinewoodcarving.com/
Good Luck

John,
I wouldn't recommend Sugar Pine for chip carving.

Sugar pine is fairly difficult to get, even here where it grows.

Why is sugar pine so hard to find now. When we got our big pieces about 25 years ago I seem to remember having lots to choose from9 or maybe its old age and wishful thinking)

My first guess would be govt restrictions, environmentalists again!...probably the same with the butternut....but never fear, we have lots of rocks down here for you to carve on!

Here's whats making Butternut scarce.

Wish it was the enviromentalists, they can be dealt with.
