Default Smooth or texture?

I am about finishing this landscape (or skyline) of the village where I live. I need a piece of advice from expert carvers. Should I leave the sky flat and smooth as it is or would it be better to add some sort of texture? If the latter, what sort of texture would you recommend? I think that texture might cover the imperfections (the e.g. gnarls) of the wood (lime-wood). Thank you for your answers. Dino

You might consider some clouds to add interest to the sky.

I think you should maybe go with a large sweep tool and make broad cuts if you want to clean up the sky. The existing carving does not have bold textures so you will have to keep it simple. And what you already have may be the best already.

Maybe just a few shallow lines to show a horizon and some light wispy clouds.

some cloudes maybe a bird or 2 to give something in the back ground other then a flat board maybe a soft mountain if it's not going to be painted something in the backgound to fill up that space would might be best some soft trees could be worked in then u could frame it to give the carvin depth u could also carve some trees or something in the frame too it's your carvin
just a idea!
