Default relief carving tools

I have only tried a few relief carvings, and I have mostly palm tools, I was thinking of getting a larger Flexcut mallet tool, maybe a #3 1 or #3 1 1/4 for back ground removal, hopefully much quicker than with my smaller palm tools...I have a Denny #3 1, so wondering if the 1 1/4 flexcut will be of any better benefit....and most of my v tools are smaller, would a larger one help also?....Dennis

Default Re: relief carving tools

I don't think another 1/4" (If I read your post correctly) will make an appreciable difference in much.
That's less than a 10% increase, less than 6 minutes shaved off every hour of carving...? I don't think so.

I find 1/4" V tool very handy (I have a mallet size one and a Flexcut one. I'm always using the mallet size one now).

If you think that have a new need for a tool, buy it. The chances are very good that you will find more uses for it once you have it in hand to experiment with.

Buy more tools! Help the economy! ;-)
(But probably not the 1 1/4" #3) :-)
