Nice flowing cuts Andy, and looks like your tools are good and sharp. Merle

Thank you for all of the postive feed back. I am just making them to make them. I feel that in order to be a good carver you sometimes have to do things more than once. I found them out of a architectural carving book that I have. I have carved some caricatures and I won't say this to loud but I am kind of getting bored with them (GASP!). I sure anyone who has carved for a while knows what I mean. To be honest I have not carved for a while but, they are what I started on and I just am not motivated to continue with them. So I decided to try other stuff. I also recently bought Carving Gargolyes by Shawn Cipa now this looks like fun! But again I really appericate all of the positive feed back. One question though what technically makes a carving a relief carving?

A relief carving is a design that has depth, usually to give shape the the objects being carving, but not the full (3rd) dimension.

Relief carvings most of the time have areas{more wood} behind them,I would call this neat carving being a half round carving. Really nice work on your behalf no matter what type of carving its called. Forrest
