Smile Relief carving

I am looking for a book of instructions in relief carving going step by step
in, for example, relief carving a landscape project showing the different levels
the thickness of wood, where to start, with what level etc.
I have done a few single flower projects but they did not include the subject of levels. Also I have read two different ways of starting. One at the background
(or deepest level) and another going over the entire piece with the first
((or highest) level following the same procedure with each level.

Do a search within the Chip and Relief sub-forum looking for "Levels," or browse some of the Similar Threads listed at the bottom of this page. There have been some helpful discussions. Also check the Woodcarving Tutorials.

Woodcarving Patterns, Classic Carving Patterns Online, Wood Carving Designs and Patterns Online

The above site has some free tutorials and they go into different levels pretty well in my opinion
