Hey Garry I like it what kind of wood is it? Has a French Canadian look to it. I have a mask I have been carving for the past 10 years it seems maybe i should get it down and finish it. Different for you but shows your versatility.
Great carving
Colin

Well Ash, if your getting into making mask then perhaps I should start doing relief carving...but I'm afraid mine may not turn out as good as your latest project. For a first time mask you did very well.

The wood is butternut, 2in roughcut. I was going for a northeastern indian look , so French Canadian is good . Have a job request for a mask , and I wanted to run a practice piece to get n idea of what I needed to look for where the problem might be and wood issues.
The carving out of the back took longer than I thought but after 10 hours it was finished to here.

Thanks all for the nice comments.

Pat every carving is a relief , just how much you relief it =) .
