Default Project for Fireman Instructors

Hi I just completed these for some students that took firefighting classes from the local technical college. First time that I tried to do shallow lettering on a curved surface.

Carving is done out of basswood. I did the Bennett first. The boys gave me the wrong spelling for the name so I had too carve out the name bennet and insert a new piece of wood that I carved the name Bennett in..... Ugh! Took a simple project and made it difficult. If I had to do it over I would just do another carving. The McLean carving was the second carving that I did. I like it alot better than the bennett carving. I supose that the next one would be even better.

Comments welcome!

Greg

Thumbs up Re: Project for Fireman Instructors

Greg .. What great looking projects for our finest ... I bet those guys were really appreciative of your work ..

Your lettering is very good and I really like the way you layed out the detail .. sort of like a shoulder patch or badge ...

Really great work Greg ..

Thanks for sharing

Gene

Greg, these are great! I would have never thought of carving helmet shields. And I was around them for a long time, too! Fantastic idea!

Thank you for your kind comments. It was a lot of fun doing these. For a good cause as well.
