Default Patterns

Hello everyone! Next year both my wifes sisters will be having their 50th wedding anniversary. I would like to carve them each a commerative plate out of basswood. I started laying them out - but having a hard time finding samples of - hmm - for lack of a better word - VINES?? See the attached picture.

THIS IS NOT MY PICTURE - I simply copied it from the net to provide a sample of what I am looking for.

Are there any places on the internet to find samples of this type of pattern. Hmm - not even sure what its called - maybe if I knew I would know what to search for - LOL!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, my name is Bubba and I'm new here but I'm an old hand at finding pictures to assist in making patterns. I just wanted to suggest searching public domain images for "vines," grapevines," "fleur de lis," "twisted branches," "intertwined vines," etc...anything that might get you a hit on what you are looking for. There are also lots of "gifs" out there that are free that are excellent for getting ideas for patterns. I am going to try to upload one of a grape vine as a sample.
I know this may not help much but I hope you find it useful.

Bubba

There are examples of vines in the Wayne Barton books on chip carving.

Sixty, I posted some 500 pixels vines here Free Vine Patterns and have asked BobD to convert the full sized patterns into a free downloadable PDF when he gets a moment.

Hope one of these helps!
