Default Pattern Possibility???

Here's an interesting picture I took at the Kit Carson Museum, Philmont Scout Ranch, in 2004. I thought someone might be interested in using it as a pattern for a relief carving. You have my permission to use it if you want. I think I'll try it myself later. If you do, please post a pic of the finished piece.

Al,

That's awsome! I've got such fond memories of that place--I went twice! The second time as a crew chief--and my dad was able to come along!

If I was better at carving--I'd attempt it <grin>

Al,
Great photo! It would make a great free-standing carving! Something that sat nicely on a desk...or maybe a set of book ends. Would do a great wall hanging, of course, too. Do you know where I can buy some more time? I'm finding it precious and rare! Maybe cloning IS the answer! The other me could do my work and I could just carve!

Wade, check here.......www.timestore.org
It's a little known source of spare time and extra time. The price of spare time, there, is reasonable, but EXTRA time is quite pricey. All time is sold in increments of minutes, and is discounted at hourly and daily plateaus. I think they have reduced rates on monthly subscriptions, too, but I've never had need for that much extra time. Since I've retired, I have no use for more spare time.....my wife takes care of any spare time I have.....they honey-do list, ya know! hehehehe

Al,

How did you like Philmont? I was there in 1970, and we are trying to organize a trip for our troop next year. I can't wait to go back with my son. When I was there, a young man was bitten by a ground squirel, and we were quarintined for an extra 10 days. It was great!!! I visited the Kit Carson home on that trip, it was really nice to see the home of a true western legend. My favorite memory is a night we spent in a camp called Dean Skyline. When I look at the new maps, I no longer see it, but it was open then. The camp was very high up on the top of the peak above Head of Dean, and after a dinner, a huge thunderstorm rolled in. Amazingly enough, we sat on the edge of the cliff watching that storm, as it envloped everything below and around us. We never got a drop, the whole storm was underneath us!!! I had never seen anything like it in my life, and haven't seen anything like it since.

The Yaqui Indians say that if you live your life as a warrior, when death comes for you, you go to your place of power, and death has to sit and watch as you dance your last dance on earth. I am hoping to dance my last dance there on that cliff.

A little verbose, but........................

Have a great day,

Not so verbose, Dan, that's an amazing place. This was my 7th trip.....once as a young Scout and the next six times as an expedition leader. I turned 60 on the trail last year and hope to make at least one more trip. I remember well coming across Dean Skyline from (and to) Baldy. I'd like to make one more ascent to the top of Baldy. Got there once and got chased off once by a really fierce thunderstorm. In 2000 we watched one of those thunderstorms roll in and around us from the top of Mt. Phillips, and in 2004 the same from the Tooth! Rode out the last storm near the Tooth Camp, in what my assistant called "Flintstone village"

I don't know where I'll dance yet......maybe the ledge at the notch, or maybe Lover's Leap, or maybe Uracca Mesa, or maybe..........well, maybe!

Hope your trip comes off well next year....I may shoot for 2007, if the troop wants to go again.
