Default Natural versus stained chip carving

My gothic crosses I left natural at first and got everyones opinions which was their favorite. Now that I stained them has it changed your mind? Do you like stained or natural better?

Thanks!

Rog,

I'm partial to natural, but there is nothing wrong with your staining either.

WOW! They are both very nice Rog. I like the contrast of the stain ones a lot but I have to say the natural are still my fave for some reason.

I like them both but the stained one looks like it has brought out the Chip carving. Maybe it is the dark versus the light part. Both are excllent

IT hasn't changed my opinion about the patterns but I love the stained version. Really brings out the details.

Rog,
Beautiful work!
I vote for stained.
I do a couple of hundred crosses a yr and only 1 or 2 people like em natural.
If hung on a wall they stand out in any light condition. IMHO

Rog,
Those are really great!

I'd have to say I like the stained best, it really makes them pop!

I'm sure they look different in person as opposed to a photo...but the first impression I had was that they look like a lazer did them. Did you accent the darkness in the cuts or did this happen naturally because of the grain? I do like them both ways for different reasons. How's that for being non committal. What might sway me is if the contrasts weren't so great but simply served to enhance the fact that it's carved.
Again, photo's are one thing,,seeing it in person I'm sure changes everything.
