Default my first relief

Hi guys,

this is my first (six months ago) attempt to relief carving. this is also my first message in the forum.

VERY NICE!
I agree with Christina regarding the tree placement, it gives the carving a higher since of depth. Also the overall carving has clean lines in the transition points.

Paolo! I love the free standing tree truck and branches. Just wonderful!!!!

So few carvers put that technique to use, often not because they can't do it but because the pattern/design is not suitable. You chose the perfect pattern. What great black shadows that tree trunk casts.

Then ... you added to this by really tucking the background behind you building deep into the wood. Another great black shadow!

Simply wonderful work.

We have a little free online tutorial on creating dark shadows that I would like to share here for the beginning relief carvers that have not tried this.
