Default I`m guessing this is the right spot for Wood Spirits

as they are a form of relief carving right?? Anyway here is a Spirit I just finished. The wood is pine and was found near the Bentonville Battlefield and has a Civil War bullet in it. Don`t have a pic of the whole piece yet when I do will post pic. Here is a pretty good pic of the "Civil War Spirit". Thanks for looking... Knothole

When I first joined this site, I was told my woodspirits are a form of "deep relief" so I expect this is as good a spot as any to post your pic. I've been putting my woodspirits in the project section...not sure if that's right as no one corrected me.
That's a unique looking woodspirit, love the little hat. You did a great job of his beard/stash and hair...everything flows very well. It's a great reference for one that I want to try later. Thanks for sharing your work.

Nice carving Knothole, and to think there's some history to the piece of wood makes it extra special! I feel you have it in the right post. It is consisdered a full relief carving.

That's a great spirit Knothole. The history of the wood is a great benefit to the carving, you might consider mounting the spirit on a backboard and burning in a short history of the wood on the backboard to preserve the link to the piece. Or something similar.

Well done carving, does honour to the men who perished in that terrible conflict.

Bob
