I'm wanting to look at some finished chip carvings that would have color. I'm trying to decide how to finish a Santa I carved that has a chipped carved coat. Only the front flaps of the coat are chipped carved and it makes the coat look quilted to some degree. I'm just not sure what I want to do as far as painting the whole piece. I may want to do one thing on the chipped carved area and something else on the rest of the piece. Thinking if I could see some pieces finished, I might be able to see a look I like and ask more questions from there. Thanks in advance.. Kris |

I took a look around and didn't find much on google, did you try searching the forums and galleries? That or find some books. Carl

I did look at the galleries. Not sure if I know how to view the gallery the way I want. I'll take another look and see if there's a search feature there, scrolling thru current listings is tedious and I didn't see any chip carvings that way. You reminded me I, I have at least one chip carving book, I'll see if I can find it... I was hoping some chip carvers here would have links to their galleries, like so many of the other type carvers do... Last edited by toycarver; 10-11-2008 at 11:46 AM. Reason: additional info |

Kris, a fellow by the name of Bruce Nicholas chip carves and his wife does the acrylic painting. I know that she dilutes the paint quite a bit. Try this and see if it helps. Welcome to Nicholas Woodcarving Supplies# I just noticed I have one painted ornament in my photos. Ornaments - Wood Carving Illustrated Photo Gallery
