Question Levelling down an Inlay

Hi Guys! I need your help. Could you give me some tips about how levelling down (I mean, bring the narrow inside at the same level of the backgrond) the inside of a small inlay in a relief? I have bought a interchangeable blade set by Flexcut (9-blade set) and I don't know which blade to use, if any. Thank you for answering.

really not sure what your asking. For inlays , cut form, glue in place and carve as normal, other option sand it to size .

A photo or sketch might help. If the inlay is in a deep pocket, it might require a curved (spoon) shape gouge to shave the inlay surface to the same level as the background.

Sorry not to be much clear. This example, I hope, is better. When you're lettering in relief, you have to level as the rest of the background in letters e.g. such a G, R, O.How do you carve the narrow spaces like inside of G, the inside circle of R and O?

Depending on the size of the letters, use a round , semi round gouge . One thing to learn is that a round gouge will turn a circle allowing it to follow it's own arc . This will not work with a D gouge. As you press down go slowly press the round , then cut back to the edge you just cut and clean as you go , get too aggressive and your edge will break out or you will tear the wood.
