This relief carving shows the small schooner the LEO, under sail off Boston in 1820. The LEO was built in Stanley Bridge, on New London Bay, Prince Edward Island, by my Great Grandfather, Capt. John Squarebridge (later Squarebriggs), in 1856. In 1858 he and his family, along with his brother Hugh and his family sailed in this vessel to Boston, where they resided for a while. The LEO was registered in Boston in 1858. The Leo was a schooner, of 67 tons, measured 70'5" long, 19'5" wide and 8'2" depth of hold. Just recently, a gentleman in Boston came across a photo of her from 1920 and sent it to me. I thought it would make a spendid relief carving. Bob

Being an ex-sailor, I really like the relief's of sailing ships you do. I ahhh! at the vision you capture in the detail.....great job, and look forward to the next one...if I have only 1 negative comment, it isn't about you, but me, I wish I could capture the picture in wood as you!....thanks...Dennis

Another mighty fine carving! Your details have come a long way and are really looking good. How did you happen to know all the dimensions of the LEO?
