I asked for advice and I am pleased to say that many carvers responded. I weighed the answers and then decided for a texture of the sky, making horizontal cuts and using different gouges, sweeps and V-tools. I finished the relief by applying first a wall-nut colored wood varnish (flatting?) and then wax-based paint for a glossy finishing. The carving represents the village (900 inhabitants) where I live. Founded by the Roman Consul Lentulus as a military encampment (castra), it grew around a 14th Century castle (actually not a military castle, but a nun convent turned into a castle). The church steeple in the background dates back to 1736 and it is 160 ft tall. |

| About 15 days. But I worked on it only 30 (max 45) minutes per day. Dino a.k.a. Rezbar
