Default leftover layout lines

I am currently chip carving a plate. I have transferred the pattern using Saral graphite layout paper but am having trouble erasing residual layout lines. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this? Suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello Firecracker,
Here's the eraser you need - Tombow Ink Eraser!
Here's the link - https://mychipcarving.com/Chip_Carving/Store/layout.htm
It has a high sand content, breaks away nicely so you don't damage your carving, and takes off the leftover graphite paper lines like no other eraser. I have to import these. They're hard to get.
I use mine after every carving.

Check out more services I offer for chip carvers here:

All the best to you!

Firecracker, not only is the eraser important but what color transfer paper you use. I always have trouble with the graphite paper when transferring so I use the white transfer paper which erases with ease and if I have trouble seeing the lines I will pencil over the lines. The eraser I use is called Factis extra soft which I get at our local teachers supply store for about a $1.00. Good luck!

I use to do a sinful no-no. I would put 500 or 600 grit paper on a palm sander and very lightly touch it to the work piece for a very short amount of time. Worked fine, just don't put it down at an angle or lift it off at an angle. To much time, and the crisp sharp edges of the carving will become flat and dull.
