Smile Learning something new

I'm a new member and want to learn recessed and chip carving. I thought this might be a first good step.

Welcome SRT. I'm pretty new here too. Based on what you wrote (you were brief), if you like to read, then I think a good book is in order--maybe a couple? Your library may be helpful in this regard. Have you checked if you have a local carving club in your area?

The more you write about your specific goals, the better that people may be able to assist you with what you wish to do. Have fun!

Read Read Read. My opinion for what it's worth. Your local store or Amazon will have all the chip carving books you can imagine. Wayne Barton's "The Art of Chip Carving" is a good one and like most starts off as if you know nothing and goes over everything which in my case is helpful haha. I'm still learning as well and since my memory is poor after my stroke I have to go back and reread it all. So keep reading and enjoy all of the wonderful artistic works.
