Default Kitchen hood front

This is my last commission piece. The contractor gave me the 8/4 butternut and a pattern to follow. All I had to do was carve it they are going to stain and finish it. My setup is a little different than some carvers because I stand while carving.

Very nice work. I have carved both standing and sitting and prefer to stand when possible. I notice you use the Pfeil Abegglen tool. How do you like it?

I really like it and used it to clean up in the tight areas between the leaves.

Beautiful work!

I only wish I could stand while carving. Too many football injuries to the knees to make that possible.

I remember in College the team Dr. told me " Well kid after that last injury you have two choices, you can continue to play, or you can walk when your forty, but it won't be both!"

Roger,

I have been an admirer of your carving since I first saw you chip carved masterpieces.
Now I am not sure what I admire more: your carving or your gouge tray assembly.
You are way too organized and disciplined man! ;-)

What a beautiful piece of art! You titled the thread "kitchen hood front", just wondering how it will be displayed?

I didn't word that quite right did I. It will be the front apron to one of those large oven hoods with the curved tops. I hope that helps.

Nice work and the tool stand if nice too, I would like to make something like that, but hinge and fold side over and have the top tray moveable drawer to go above bottom tray when folding. I am tired of digging out three different tool rolls to get tools then put them away to go into box. Just and idea.
