Here is a high relief carving of the cartoon character, Kim Possible! Just finished carving her out of basswood and adding some details and cleaning up with the use of a woodburner. The only big problem I had was I kept hitting the screws that I used to secure the piece in a vise resulting in some quality time at the tool sharpener. Looking to paint Kim in acrylics sometime in the next few weeks! |

Ok folks, proof positive that I eventually get around to painting my carvings! Here is Kim Possible, painted in acrylic washes using a technique that I learned from Midge Schmitgen (Harley Schmitgen's wife, and an excellent carver on her own). I really enjoyed doing this relief piece and am thinking of doing another carving with a different character. This Kim Possible piece will be making her carving show debut at the Conewago Carvers show on October 28 and 29 in East Berlin, Pennsylvania. Maybe she will take home a ribbon! |
