I do have another design element/object for the space in the far right hand area. I have it shown in my sketch, not sure yet whether I'll use it or not. I kind of like the balance it provides, what do you all think?
Thanks again,
Kathy | The one I am doing does have a pueblo, I'm at the detail stage on it. I haven't had much time to mess with it this week. But I hope to finish it this weekend.

Your right the background on my kachina is taking the longest. I'm about 75% done with the carving right now. Hey I decided to make my sun a Zia sun, its not a full one but a quarter of it. Hopefully I will be done with the carving tomorrow sometime, its not looking good though, too many other things to do. Got to finish up the Air Conditioner so I can stay on the good side of my little bride.

| | Re: Kachina Panels WIP I suspect you already know that the Zia symbol (your sun) is a religious symbol to many Native Americans and they have fought against businesses having this design in business signs.

Joggernot | Oh yah, know all about that, I live in New Mexico where the Zia Sun symbol is our state flag.

| | Re: Kachina Panels WIP Hey Mel, just saw your lovely 'Sun Kachina' Relief in the Carver Galleries. Wonderful and respectful work. What size is your relief?
Mel I hope you will post your 'Sun Kachina' in this forum too. As for painting and finishing always a dilema for me I really think it's beautiful the way it shows now. I don't think I would paint this one, how about a nice oak stain and varnish. Or if you want to leave it natural color then how about Deft Danish Oil (neutral) then finish with varnish. Wonderful work!
Kathy
