| | Re: Jack In The Pulpit Two WIP Hi Alice, Patrick, Mel
Thank you, all for looking and commenting I really appricate your thoughts and suggestions. I think sometimes we all get in a comforatble spot with our carvings and painting of them. I think with this one I will try something new for me...partly painted....partly unpainted. I'll just have to see how it develops as I go along.
Should have some progress images by Sunday after our club meeting on Saturday. Alice, I have to have a road map so I can see a head to where I'm going. LOL
It doesn't mean I'll follow that map, and have little detours on my way. I admire those of you who can just start and just go free form and see where it leads you. I have done that with mix-media paintings and it's fun. But doing that with wood...geez for me I just don't know. Mel & Patrick, I have someone who has suggested she would like it when finished. I don't have a firm commitment yet. She does like the original, so not sure she will want it only painted in certain areas. It doesn't change the price! LOL

| | Re: Jack In The Pulpit Two WIP Just a little update on my project.... I now have my three basswood panels from Heinecke and they have been drying for about three weeks. One of the 2" x 10" x 13" panels arrived with a dented corner. I emailed Heinecke and they sent we a replacement. Great folks and excellent basswood. Will give the newest panel a chance to adjust to our climate. I still have to make the 1 inch cuts to the back-side of each panel. While I'm waiting I can busy myself with creating the design. I have idea's swimming around in my little brain, so it's time to get them on paper. I've cut several pieces of butcher paper (non-waxy side) the actual size of each panel. That way I can better visualize how the design will look when placed on the panel. I'll be arranging each doll against a foam core board photography panel and take photo images. When I'm satisfied with the placement then I'll make a pattern that will be transferred to the basswood panels. So, time to get to work! I will upload images of the pattern transferred onto the panels. Thoughts of starting a new thread for the WIP. I don't know how much information can be added to one thread? What do you think? As always I appreciate your thoughts and input. Kathy

| | Re: Jack In The Pulpit Two WIP Hi Doris, great to hear from you, what are you working on now? I'll have to go see if you have any work in a thread. As this is a large (for me) project I really felt I needed to know exactly how the design was going to look to size. This is the only way I know to accomplish it. LOL I probably should just keep the WIP in this thread, as long as there is room. Thank you, for your input, and as always it's valued by me. Kathy |

I just love it, hope to carve as well as you do one day. Left you a message in your thread. Sounds like another great carving in the works. Let us know when you get started. Kathy |

| | Re: Jack In The Pulpit Two WIP Nice work on the first one, Kathy. Trust this will turn out well also. May I be so bold as to ask what the asking price might be for such a piece? Always have difficulty asking for my own. Not a problem if you would rather not share.
