Default High relief

This is my second (and last for now) relief work. Despite I started it as a low-relief, while I was carving the subject himself asked me to go deeper and deeper, so at the end it was really an high-relief. The subject is a naturalistic drawing representing an autumn scene: a blackbird (Turdus merula), and a common whitebeam (Sorbus aria).
The wood is basswood (difficult to carve in the fine details).

Extremely nice example of high relief. You have beautiful dark shadows. Love the free floating vines and leaf tips.

Well done! That is a beautiful piece of carving. I love the depth and undercutting you have managed. Makes the piece really stand out. Bravo!!!

Thanks for showing us this piece. It is gorgeous. The details of the leaves and berries are a beautiful focus.
