Default Here is my second atttemp at relief carving

I have tons of scrap Basswood from Saltwater fishing Fishing Plugs leftover, I cut a peice and try another. I need to get some more hand tools before I can fnish it. I didnt realize how difficult it can be with the depth perception. It sure is a lot of fun.

It looks like your having fun too! I have a lot of trouble with trying to create the perception of depth. I think if I can get it right on paper then I don't have as much trouble when I carve it, otherwise it's hopeless. Art Olver has a cool technique for shading using different tones of shoe wax ... a nice way to give your carving more depth... Keep up the good work, it's looking great!
