Tony, The longer that I am in this the more I realize that the no no's get less and less. I think there are some fairly concrete no no's when it comes to safety, but as far as painting, brother this is working for you. Very nice scene. Safe carving and God Bless, Mark |

Thank you very much. This is the first time I started paint in oils in 50 years. I got to get the feel back. I am retired now so I can do all the things I wanted to do. Again thank you all. I just hope I can get as good as you all at this. I'll kept trying. Tony

I like using oils too. They are very rich looking on the carving. You might try using them thinned down a bit more, and let the grain show through just for another method. I cannot tell from the photo if you have done that in places already. The colors you have used on this piece are very natural for the carving subject. Enjoyed seeing it.
