Default Grass

Hi guys,

I need your help for a (seemingly) simple problem: how to carve the grass in a relief, in particular when it is in the foreground. Could you show a picture of your solution?
Paolo

Default Re: Grass

check out my photos in the carvers gallery-- most of the grass in mine is done with paint-- but to add texture, in the form of bunch grass , i use a small v-tool-- its like hair on a horse-- most grass is so fine that you really dont see individual blades of grass. you might take a nail head and punch several dots in the head- remove the point on the nail and turn the head down onto the carving-- tap on nail and then twist it and tap again-- you do this enough and you will have some texture with no pattern

I have used an incised pattern as shown in the photo (link) below. I don't think it's very good, but I did it 62 years ago.

Thank you Chuck and Phil,
in the past days i tried a simple incised pattern using both a V-tool and a venier. Tomorrow I will take a picture and show you.
