I would like to find some free relief patterns that I can use for practice carving.

ssorss try Susan Irish's web site, just stroll around looking at the various online tutorials she has provided , free patterns for various types of woodcarving including relief are included in the list of tutorials, url provided below.
Also you can ask her any question that might arise right here on this forum since she does spend some time here chatting and discussing woodcarving, painting and pyrography among other things.

You could also check out Ivan Whillock's site as well, he provides a few free patterns for relief carving too.

lots of things on the web, do a scout of boy scout projects, lots of beginner type things there, also do a search on woodcarving tutorials. Ol' Don also has free patterns....think you can find him at www.carverscompanion.com look for the current issue of the online magazine and he always has an article and some patterns...you can also go to past issues at the same site for other patterns.
