Default Four Seasons Plate

This is an example of "reverse" chipping carving i.e. carved after the plate was stained and finished.

Can you tell which rosette represents which season?

Skipster; I'm inclined to think Spring, left side (new flower in bloom), and Autumn, right side (branches are bare of leaves).

As far as I know this is an original Wayne Barton pattern. I guess he will have to be the arbiter in this regard.

Well Mack I gave it my best! I keep going back to look at your carving and wondering if I should try one. My wife would love it, thanks for sharing. Skip

Nice work on the Four Seasons. Carving a stained or painted plate can give you some great designs, and show up wonderfully. Great job!

Mark, the first word after seeing this one was beautiful - then I read the post and found it in most of them. So, it must be the best description. Well done.
